Enjoy! A New Lease on Life

I love being a wife, a mom, and bubby. In addition, for over 32 years I punched many time cards. I had a variety of jobs including working in jewelry, clerking in offices, book keeping, and working with special needs adults. When I started to collect social security I thought I’d retire and have some time for “me”. ‘Have fun’ I sad to myself, while I still remembered my name when I wake up in the morning. My fear was what do I do? How do I fill my day?

Thank G-d the SCC has solved these problems. Ilene, with Linda’s help do a fabulous job offering a wide variety of activities to keep any senior happy, healthy, and fulfilled. Thank you ladies.

The first draw for me was the pool. The facilities are unsurpassed and the hours for women are very convenient. They have even supplied us with a bus to another pool while we are under construction. You don’t find such consideration anywhere else. Marina is the best life guard. She directs traffic, keeps us supplied with equipment in good condition and gives wonderful aerobics.

Since a person is not one dimensional, what do I do after swimming? The SCC and Ilene address this issue too. They have scheduled so many varieties of activities it becomes hard to chose where to go. There are four different types of exercise experiences. They’re not just classes. They are much more. All the instructors are knowledgeable in their fields. They are warm, friendly, and patient with “slow learners” or folks with special physical needs. After participating every part of your body tingles. I figured I’d give these a try. Well…I’m hooked. I feel invigorated. It’s a real turn on.

My second love is dance and wow the SCC comes through in spades. Miriam’s Israeli Dance class is great. Gilda runs such a wonderful Zumba/Dance experience with dances from around the world that moving to the beat makes your heart soar. It brings back old memories and makes you feel young again.

I had a great ego builder at Geri’s arts and crafts class. I made a beaded eye glasses holder. It was an eye opener to find out that I could be creative with my hands.

Imagine, I was worried how I would spend my days and now the SCC has presented me with a new problem. How can I be in more than one place at the same time? I want to stay at the Center and dance but they have a great trip scheduled for the same day. Life is a series of compromises. This time I’ll dance, next time it’ll be the trip. The consolation is that at the SCC you always win no matter what you chose.

At the SCC you have a great time with warm, friendly people participating in activities which are educational, spiritual, or physically uplifting and just plain fun. So join us! Jump right in!

The water’s fine!
