“I don’t know what we’d do without the Center. We come here to see our friends, we stay active. It keeps us young!”

“I love the exercise classes. It’s so important to stay fit at every age – and with all the classes offered here, it’s easy.”

“We go to the most interesting places on our day trips. I’m always learning something new and making new friends.”

“We always seem to be having a party – by this age we’ve gone through so much, and it’s wonderful that we still find so many reasons to celebrate. We have the best parties!”

“The exercise and dance classes are vital for us. We learn balance, how to strengthen our bones, help ease arthritis, sharpen our minds, learn coordination, and keep our cardio-vascular system chugging along…You also meet wonderful, friendly interesting people and have a great time!”

The Center provides a nurturing social environment for mature adults of all ages and stages. It’s a place to socialize with old friends, develop new ones, and stay active in a vibrant community. Stay fit with numerous exercise, yoga, or dance classes tailored to meet the needs of every level of fitness, age, and body type. Exercise your mind in our discussion groups, educational seminars on health and wellness, conferences and cultural activities. Join the fun at our celebrations, day trips, and cultural activities.

PEOPLE WITH LOW VISION: READ & WRITE USING A DESKTOP ELECTRONIC MAGNIFIER

To enhance the lives of people with low vision, the SCC received a quality desktop electronic magnifier. This closed circuit television system (CCTV) will magnify texts and objects, and help with everyday activities such as reading books, magazines, newspapers, prescription bottles, bills, bank statements, grocery items, and cookbooks. Viewing photographs, doing crossword puzzles, writing checks and letters becomes possible with this state-of-the art magnifier. We are grateful to the NY State Office of Children & Family Services, Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped for providing this state-of-the art equipment.

For instructions in how to use the CCTV, please call Linda Eber at 718-954-3154.
