Gingerbread Cookies

INGREDIENTS

1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or cloves
1/4 teaspoons salt

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350°.

2. Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.

3. Add egg and vanilla.

4. Beat until creamy.

5. Stir together dry ingredients and add sugar to mixture.

6. On a well floured surface, roll out 1?2 of the dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness.

7. Cut into shapes with floured cookie cutters.

8. Bake on greased cookie sheets 12-15 minutes.
