Kanafa with Cream

INGREDIENTS

1 package kanafa
21?2 sticks butter
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
1?2 teaspoon sugar
21?2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons water

Syrup:
3 cups sugar
11?2 cups water
1?4 of a lemon, juiced

DIRECTIONS

1. Boil syrup ingredients on flame until it looks like honey. Set aside and let cool.

2. Dissolve cornstarch in water.

3. In pot, mix heavy cream, sugar and milk. Bring to a boil. Add cornstarch mixture. Lower flame and keep stirring until cream thickens. Set aside.

4. Split kanafa in half and shred into pieces. Melt butter and add to both halves
separately.

5. Lay one half on the bottom of a Pyrex, pressing it down. Put the cream evenly, then cover with the remaining kanafa. Press firmly.

6. Bake for 30 minutes.

7. Top with syrup.
