Orange Cake

INGREDIENTS 1-1/2 cups sugar DIRECTIONS 1. Grease bottom of 10-inch tube pan and line with parchment paper. 2. Sift 1/2 cup sugar with flour 4 times and put in medium bowl. 3. In another bowl, beat orange juice, zest and 1 cup sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time and continue beating until light in color about 3 minutes. Add flour mixture, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. 4. Beat egg white until frothy. Add cream tartar and mix until stiff. 5. Spoon 1?3 of egg white into batter and mix with a wooden spoon. Then, using rubber spatula, fold in rest of whites. 6. Pour half of batter into pan and level. Pour rest and level again. Tap on counter 3 times to let out air pockets. 7. Bake 50-60 minutes until skewer comes out clean. 8. Invert and cool completely. 9. Unmold and sprinkle with confectioners sugar. |
