Toffee Brownie Bar

INGREDIENTS

Crust:
3?4 cup butter or margarine, softened
3?4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
3?4 teaspoon vanilla extract
11?2 cups flour

Filling:
1 package Duncan Hines brownie mix
1 egg
1?3 cup water
1?3 cup oil

Topping:
1 package (12 ounce) milk chocolate chips, melted
3?4 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Grease 91?2 × 11 Pyrex.

2. For crust: Combine butter, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Stir in flour. Spread in Pyrex. Bake 15 minutes, or until golden.

3. For filling: Combine brownie mix, egg, water and oil in large bowl. Stir with spoon until well blended, about 50 strokes. Spread over hot crust. Bake 15 minutes or until surface appears set. Cool 30 minutes.

4. For topping: Spread melted chocolate on top of brownie layer. Garnish with pecans or walnuts. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
