Chicken with Dried Fruits, Persian Style

INGREDIENTS

8-10 chicken pieces
2-3 cups water
1/4 cup oil
1/2 onion, peeled and sliced small
1-2 garlic cloves, cut or chopped small
1 cup dried apricots
1 cup pitted prunes
1/2 cup raisins

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat oil, fry chicken until brown. Remove chicken.

2. Sauté onion and garlic. Add dried fruits and raisins. Sauté until fruit softens. Add chicken, then water, cover and simmer. The longer you cook this dish, the thicker the sauce becomes and the easier the chicken will come off the bone, approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
