Rochelle Dweck A”H Singles Fund
Rochelle “Shelley” Dweck was a key visionary and figure who helped build the Center into what it is today. She started out gradually, one event at a time, but her efforts became indispensable and soon Rochelle became a Board member in 1988. In 1994 she became Recording Secretary, and then Vice President from 1998 to 2003.
Rochelle’s fundraising skills were extraordinary, and her commitment pure, she was a part of the team. In 1988, she worked on the playbill of One Night Only, and also chaired the Immigrant Wall of Honor, and the Israel Bond 40th Annual Gala at the Brooklyn Museum. She went on to chair the Adult Education department for many years, and then the Junior department as well. She worked on Celebrations, Kaleidoscope, And All that Jazz, Back to Bradley Beach, Catskills in Brooklyn, Murder at the SCC, Decorators Dream, Body and Soul, Sports Hall of Fame and Spa Scape. From 1996 to 2000, she was Chairperson of Membership and Marketing. From 2001 through 2018, she embraced her job as Chairperson of Membership, rallying for support, fundraising and cheerleading for a community center that she totally adored.
She was respected to the highest degree by all she worked for and with, and she never tired of her job, sharing the love that she had for this building with one and all who enter it. We were lucky to have her. This fund ensures that young singles in our community can participate in Young Adult programming, regardless of financial circumstance.
