Ryan Powell

Piano, saxophone, and guitar

Ryan Powell is a multi-instrumentalist and composer originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan. He’s been performing in jazz and rock bands throughout southern Michigan, as well as abroad in Paris and Normandy. As a composer and songwriter, he wrote music for a neuroscience study at Columbia University, in which participants listened to his music in an fMRI to observe patterns of brain activity, and for NASA, the Natural History Museum, and universities to share and promote their work through music.

Ryan is passionate about teaching and sharing the wonder of music with others. He strives to give his students the tools they need to enjoy and express themselves through music in all of its possibilities. He teaches piano, saxophone, and guitar as well as composition, songwriting, and electronic production.
