Annual Bench Press Contest

The annual Bench Press Contest returns with nine different weight divisions, four different senior divisions, and three women’s divisions. This is a free, members-only contest to compete for trophies and bragging rights. Featuring guest judge, Meir Jolovitz.

Bench Press Contest Rules:
- Athletes must weigh in prior to the contest starting. This helps to determine weight classes.
- Athletes get three lifts. Use this as an opportunity to increase the weight for the second and third lifts.
- Report the weight of your opening lift to the judge prior to the beginning of your contest.
- Your best successful lift will count.
- You cannot choose to go down in weight if you failed a lift. You can try the same weight again, or move up.
- You may use a spotter to give you a lift, only.
- Your feet must remain fixed to the floor. Feet cannot move once the lift begins.
- Your rear end must remain on the bench at all times. You lift will not count if you if you lift your butt.
- Touch the bar on your chest momentarily and wait for the official’s signal. Do not bounce the bar off of your chest.
- Both arms must lock out simultaneously at the top.
